Nick Avella

Nick Avella brings deep experience in alternative lending and partnership leadership to his work at National Business Capital. Prior to joining NBC, he was a founding member of an e-commerce lending marketplace and later managed sales and partnership teams at a direct lender supporting lower middle-market businesses. He holds both a BA and an MBA from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business.

What sets Nick apart is his principled, long-term approach to growth. Even before joining NBC, he admired the pride the firm takes in its brand and its commitment to doing the right thing. Today, he values NBC’s client-first mindset, willingness to take calculated risks, and the ambition of a team focused on building something meaningful at scale. His experience across both platform and direct-lending environments allows him to approach partnerships with clarity, confidence, and perspective.

Outside of work, Nick is an avid golfer and traveler, with Japan standing out as a favorite destination. A lifelong New York Giants fan, he also takes pride in being a devoted uncle to six (and counting) nieces and nephews. Born and raised in New Jersey, Nick now calls Scottsdale, Arizona home, while spending summers back east at the Jersey Shore with his wife—where the two first met. He’s a fan of The Sopranos and lives by the idea that insight creates advantage, a belief reflected in his appreciation for The Art of War by Sun Tzu.
