Stewart Smith

Stewart Smith brings more than 15 years of experience in lower middle market investment banking to his role at National Business Capital. Prior to joining NBC, he worked on transactions across industries including IT, healthcare, manufacturing, and consumer packaged goods, giving him a strong foundation in deal structuring, financial strategy, and navigating complex business environments. Stewart is also a U.S. Navy veteran, bringing discipline, resilience, and a team-first mindset to everything he does.

What sets Stewart apart is his appreciation for collaboration and high-performance teams. From his first week onsite, he recognized NBC’s culture as something special—an environment built on camaraderie, shared accountability, and diverse perspectives. He values working alongside driven professionals who challenge one another and contribute to better outcomes for partners and clients alike.

Outside of work, Stewart is a proud father of three and is motivated by leaving a positive impact wherever he can. He enjoys staying active, often rucking with his dogs, fishing, and following rugby—particularly Stade Français. He also enjoys traveling, with Albania standing out as a memorable destination, and is a fan of films by Guy Ritchie. Stewart lives by the quote, “Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much,” and draws inspiration from The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi.
