Copperline Waste
$1M to buy a competitor’s zone, projected to take a waste company to $50M
The SBA declined the acquisition financing, and the deal was on a clock. Financing from National funded it in under three weeks, and about 400 new accounts came with it.
The Client
Copperline Waste is a family-owned waste removal company that has been in business for many years. The founder built it, and his son now runs it. The company has grown to $36M in revenue, and its owner saw a chance to grow faster by buying a competitor’s zone.
The Situation
Copperline was growing, and a competitor’s zone was available. Buying it meant taking on roughly 400 new accounts and funding the cash flow to keep service running while those accounts were brought into Copperline’s operation. The timing was tight, so the acquisition needed financing quickly.
The Challenge
Copperline had pursued SBA financing for the purchase, and the SBA declined. For a business owner financing an acquisition, there are very few alternatives to an SBA loan, and the deal had a deadline that wouldn’t wait for a new search.
An SBA lending platform that works with National brought Copperline’s deal to our team after the decline.
National’s advisors structured $1M in Revenue-Based Financing around the strength of Copperline’s existing business, built to:
- Acquire the competitor’s zone
- Bring on roughly 400 new accounts
- Cover cash flow while those accounts were integrated
Copperline’s strength was already proven: $36M in revenue, a long operating history, and a clear plan for the funds.
National approved and funded the deal in under three weeks, so the acquisition could move at the pace the owner needed.
Why National Business Capital
When the SBA route closed, National was the alternative that kept the deal alive. The platform that referred Copperline trusted us with its first SBA-declined acquisition, and our team delivered on it. For a business that had planned its growth around one financing path, having a second option made the difference.
Today, Copperline is finishing the regulatory work on its new zone and bringing the accounts in sync, with the business on track to grow from $36M to a projected $50M.
